Other roofing materials are available, such as steel, cedar shakes, slate or tile.
Installation of these is different and usually more costly. Climate and home design should be considered when thinking of using these.
Gutters channel water to down spouts and away from the foundation of your custom home. They should be put up as soon as possible after the cornice is painted and the exterior walls are finished. This helps to keep the mud from splashing onto the side of the custom house and maintain good drainage.
